Description

Pallasites form at the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids: iron-nickel metal from the core mixed with olivine crystals from the mantle at the moment of a catastrophic collision. The result — golden olivine crystals floating in a metallic matrix, backlit like stained glass — is one of the most beautiful materials in the solar system. Brahin pallasites show exceptional olivine clarity.

This specimen originates from Brahin, Gomel Region, Belarus, one of the world’s most significant localities for this type of material. Collectors and scientists have drawn from this region for generations, and for good reason: the combination of geological conditions here produces specimens of exceptional quality and clarity.
