Description

Collectors say that minerals are the universe’s autobiography, written in atoms. Carbonaceous chondrites are the most primitive meteorites — some contain presolar grains older than the solar system itself, including nanodiamonds and silicon carbide formed in other star systems before our Sun ignited. CM2 chondrites also contain amino acids, complex organics, and water-bearing minerals. The building blocks of life arrived by meteorite: this is no longer a metaphor.

This specimen originates from Northwest Africa, one of the world’s most significant localities for this type of material.
