The Connecticut Valley contains one of North America’s richest trace fossil records — Triassic dinosaurs walking across mudflats that dried and lithified. Trace fossils record behavior, not bodies: the weight distribution of an animal in mid-stride, its pace length, whether it was running. This three-toed track was made 200 million years ago by an early theropod whose skeleton has never been found.
